Off the Tomatoe Standard

why do I have to pay more for organic tomatoes
So, I'm in the super market, I'm standing in the produce section and I have to decide between organic tomatoes at 6.49 a kilo or tomatoes for 1.49 a kilo.
I wonder to myself, why do I have to pay more for organic tomatoes. I don't even know why we have to call them organic anything. Something is not right here. We are off the Tomatoe Standard.
Perhaps, we need more truth in labeling? Just cross out the Organic so it reads tomatoes for 6.49 a kilo. But why? Because they're grown in dirt without pesticids, herbicides or growth hormones. Born of a sexual union between one tomatoe plant and another tomatoe plant with the help of the birds, bees and wind. Tomatoes at 6.49 a kilo.
